panoramic view of our boathouse and the Caledonian Canal - Scotland's Best Rowing Water

Welcome to the Inverness Rowing Club Website.

The club is located on the Caledonian Canal, on the north-west outskirts of the City of Inverness.

Rowing (and sculling) takes place from our boathouse with a choice of a 5150m stretch of water to the west (towards Loch Ness) or 2000m to the east (towards the Moray Firth). We pride ourselves on having the "Best Rowing Water in Scotland". The canal being relatively sheltered, with no tide or stream, no sharp bends, and with little traffic. There is also a good towpath, which makes coaching easier. The fact that crews from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow frequently make the trip North for training gives evidence of the quality of our water.

Our small, friendly club is active the whole year round, training through the winter for the Inverness "Eights Head" in February, with more emphasis during the rest of the year on smaller boats.
You will find experienced rowers and scullers on the canal most days of the week.

If you have any specific queries, are keen on trying the sport, or an experienced rower moving to the area, please contact us.
